I think I have a greater capacity for the fantastical, but I come from a place where a large portion of the population can transmute inorganic material at will. Things that are reality for me are fantastical for most. But I understand what you mean, too far out of the realm of possibility makes it difficult to immerse myself in the story.

...Of course sometimes real life does follow the more unlikely plots of novels.
